Many of us know that the cliché “you get what you pay for” is definitely true when it comes to certain situations and industries. Silly me, I didn’t think it would apply to catering…a lesson I learned the hard way.
I was hosting a cocktail party for my best friend’s birthday. With the help of her husband and my husband, we planned a fabulous little surprise get together for about 50 of our closest friends. Since we decided to have an open bar, I decided to help cut costs by hiring a catering service that was less expensive than other caterers in the area.
Big mistake! The guests were only able to choose from two entrees, the food was mediocre (at best), and the staff was comprised of awkward, clumsy high schoolers. Not to mention, they almost ran out of food…there were only 50 people!
Just remember, you get what you pay for when it comes to catering! The caterer you want may be more expensive but it will definitely be worth it. I should have gone with the Utah caterer a friend recommended. Oh well. Hopefully everyone was too drunk to care!
