Christmas Presents

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

I received a lot of good stuff this Christmas, but my favorite part was watching others open the presents I bought them. For instance, my little brother was so excited when he opened his huge remote control truck. With a little charge of the battery he had it racing throughout the house, scaring the dogs.

However, my favorite person to watch was my Mom. She has an old antique tea set she inherited from her Grandma, which was missing a tea cup and saucer. She didn’t know the manufacturer name or pattern number so she assumed she’d never have a complete set. Well, I found the exact pieces she was missing just by looking through pictures on a china replacement site. They have everything from china to crystalware replacements, even for older and discontinued models.

The look on her face when she opened the present was priceless. She almost started to cry, she was so moved by the present. It was definitely one of the best moments of Christmas Day!

Just for Newlyweds…

Monday, November 5th, 2007

I came across this sweet site this weekend while perusing the web…The Nest (brought to you by the wedding site The Knot): a website for newlyweds complete with decorating ideas, budgeting tips, real estate, buying guides, love & sex, and more.

In fact, my husband and I used their Vacuum Cleaner buying guide to help us purchase our very own (we went with the Dyson DC 07, which we absolutely love).  Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Hold Music & One Fed-Up Customer

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

Kudos to companies and businesses that implement creative hold music for their customers that are left on hold.  I am tired of listening to crappy classical music that sounds more like crackling static than actual music, or even worse, an automated salesman trying to sell me more of their product or services (something I find especially annoying when I am calling to complain about something).

So I applaud companies that take both the time and money to make sure us (the customers) are not subjected to obnoxious hold recordings.  A very smart business move on their part, since customers are more likely to stay on the line when they are listening to something that is entertaining and or informative.

Wedding China

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Received my very first place setting of my wedding china and I am so excited! It is absolutely gorgeous and wonderfully exquisite. The small geometric pattern is subtle yet contemporary, complementary of my own personal taste and style. Check it out for yourself! Good thing we all are now well-versed in china replacement services, in case my pattern is ever discontinued!

My Handy Dandy Bug Hat

Tuesday, October 16th, 2007

I write this as I am currently ordering a bug hat for my husband.  Read on….

My husband constantly and mercilessly makes fun of me every time I wear my camouflage bug hat.  I admit, it’s not the most attractive head piece I could wear, but I certainly think it is the most functional.  “It provides mosquito protection, among other things,” I contend each and every time the teasing begins.
Well, karma made a visit and put him in his place. The other day, I dragged his butt off the couch and made him help me weed out the gardens in our massive back yard.  On our way outside, I strapped on the hat and his usual mockery began.

During our weeding, we must have disturbed a small colony of yellow jackets, because all of sudden there were about ten of them swarming us.  I had on long pants, long sleeves, gloves, and my trusty bug hat.  My husband was not so lucky.  In fact, he ended up getting stung four times on the neck.  Who’s laughing now??
